Thanks to its outstanding location by the mouth of the Douro River and its exceptional architectural heritage, the Old Town of the city of Porto was declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by Unesco in 1996.

At Porto you can visit the Ribeira quarter, renowed thanks to its narrow streets, the Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral) from the 12th century, as well as the outstanding S. Francisco church, whose interior is coated with golden carvings from the 18th century.

One of the most emblematic monuments of the city was built during the first half of the 18th century: Torre dos Clérigos. From the top of this tower one can enjoy one of the most privileged views to the city and the Douro River.

When crossing the amazing D. Luís I bridge, you will arrive to Vila Nova de Gaia, the true birthplace of Porto wine, where you can take a guided tour to the wineries and taste this internationally renowned wine.
